Welcome and thank you for visiting this page. Many volunteer opportunities and ways to help come up over the course of the school year, and it takes a village to make it all happen! We'll do our best to keep all opportunities (PTA or non-PTA related) here so you have one place to look. Current Volunteer Opportunities


***Winter Celebration***

Dates: December 12-16

Time Commitment: 30-60 minutes; morning, afternoon, evening

To make this event a success and to ensure no one is stuck doing one job the whole time, we need many, many hands and helpers! You'll find many options before, during, and after the event - decorating, set-up, clean up, ticket and food sales, and more. If you can sign up for multiple things, please do! And ask your spouse, partner and school friends if they can spare some time too. Thank you!

***Book Fair***

Dates: December 12-16

Time Commitment: 40-60 minutes; morning, afternoon, evening

We are looking for volunteers to help students and families shop our book fair store on campus. You'll work the register and help shoppers navigate the store.


Teacher & Staff Winter Luncheon

Dates: December 22

Time Commitment: 30-60 minutes; food donations

This year the PTA we will be hosting a holiday luncheon on Thursday, December 22nd for our teachers & staff (approx. 40 people). We will have homemade chili, salads, corn bread, toppings and dessert. We will also have flower arrangements for the teachers to take home as a gift. If you'd like to help set-up or provide anything not on the list please reach out to Nicole Ferullo 661.706.8805. Room Parent Liaison

Dates: Current through end of school year

Time Commitment: Varies, but minimal

We are looking to fill the role of Room Parent Liaison. This person will help facilitate communication & coordination between the PTA and the Room Parents in each classroom. Their time to shine will come with the Jog-a-Thon in the Spring and at other misc. times during the year (i.e., classroom door decorations). Parent Helpers on Campus

Dates: Any school day

Time Commitment: 15-60 minutes

RH Dana is very open to having parent helpers in the following areas. Please sign in at the office and we will have an orange vest to put on, so the students know you are here to help.


Before School Drop-Off Line (7:40-7:55): Help Mrs. Nelson keep the traffic flowing! Greet and welcome students to school.


Lunch Time (11:45-12:45): Help with supervision around the lunch tables and playground (either Kinder area or big playground). Feel free to use your strengths and areas of interest here. Love soccer? Help us with the soccer games. Love games? Help us with the game cart at recess. Good at talking? Come chat with the students.



Marine Biology Lab

Training Date: December 15 @ 1pm

Marine Biologist Nancy Caruso will be coming to RH Dana Thursday, 12/15 at 1 o’clock to teach the staff about aquaponics and water chemistry. If you are interested in helping out in the marine biology lab this year as a volunteer, please feel free to attend and learn as well. Grades K-2 will have an aquaponics system in their science classroom, and Grades 3-5 will have it in the lab. We will need parent helpers as we launch our marine biology program.


 

Donation Requests


Raffle Baskets for Winter Celebration

Due Date: Dec 16

We are collecting donations for themed gift baskets. Tickets will be sold for $1 and you can enter 1 or more tickets for the chance to win the basket(s) of your choice! If you would like to donate or know a business that wants to donate to our raffle please let us know.


Examples of themed baskets families or businesses have donated in the past include: Arts & Craft Baskets, Book Baskets, Toy Baskets, Sports Basket, Game Night Basket, Movie Night Basket, Beach Basket, or Gift Cards to Restaurants, Grocery Store, Kid friendly activities, Trampoline Park, Zoo, Museum, etc.

Winter Decorations

Dana Dollar Store Wishlist

We are always looking for goodies that our students can "purchase" at the Dana Dollar Store. We are open to any donations or you may select something from our Amazon Wishlist.


Popcorn Friday

Due Dates: December 2 and 9

We are currently staffed for the upcoming Popcorn Friday's, but we are always open to donations to sell at the events. Home made or store bought baked goods are wonderful, as well as chips, drinks, or candy. Surprise us!
