Planning Meetings: Every Friday after the morning assembly - 8am, room 117 (9/13 meeting will be brief at the PTA meeting in the MPR)
____________
**Update from 9/6 meeting**
This year's featured countries have been selected! Each grade is responsible for hosting a booth at the fiesta featuring the following countries:
-
TK - Bolivia
-
Kinder - El Salvador
-
Gr 1 - Mexico
-
Gr 2 - Ecuador
-
Gr 3 - Puerto Rico
-
Gr 4 - Chile
-
Gr 5 - Guatemala
Each grade will be decorating a booth, serving/selling tapas, and displaying posters of famous people and other fun facts about their country! Parents have volunteered to lead each grade, but they will be asking you to help in some way - whether with decorations, making tapas, volunteering at the booth, donating supplies, or making a poster with your child. Stay tuned for more information about how you can help. In the meantime, a great activity would be to have your child get to know more about their featured country.
_____________
In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, which is September 15 - October 15, R.H. Dana students learn about various hispanic cultures around the world in class. To tie it all together and celebrate, the PTA hosted our very first Hispanic Heritage Fiesta last year! It was a wonderful event where each grade created a booth with decorations, information and tapas from different hispanic countries. We had entertainment, crafts, music, dancing, and more.
Watch a video from last year's event!
We would like to replicate this event, but it requires a team of volunteers to make it happen. Help us kick off the school year right!
