We are looking forward to welcoming and training our new volunteers as well as leaning on the experience of our veteran volunteers. It is our goal to have a wonderful mixture of English and Spanish speaking volunteers. For all of the opportunities listed below we will need chairs/coordinators and many additional helpers. Marine Biology Lab needs Volunteers
Do you have 10-20 mins per week you can spare to help the RH Dana Marine Biology Lab? Parent volunteers feed our sea life and check the water levels in the lab everyday. We're looking for 1-2 more volunteers to join the team and help share the load. We will train you - it's easy!
Library volunteers
Our school librarian is looking for help in the following areas. Please reach out if you are interested.

Shelving books: Organizing and returning books to their proper places on the shelves.

Inventory: Conducting regular inventory checks to ensure accurate book records.

Student assistance: Helping students find books, answer questions, and use library resources effectively.

Grant Committee
Do you have experience writing grants? Are you a persuasive or detail-oriented writer? We are teaming up with the Booster Club to form a joint committee to submit grant applications and diversify our funding sources. This committee would be in person or via Zoom to divide tasks. ONGOING VOLUNTEER OPPORTunities
Book Fair
RH Dana hosts 1-3 book fairs each year. The lead will serve as the contact person to Scholastic, a Spanish Book Fair company (of your choice), as well as our RH Dana families. This person will help coordinate timing with the school, and volunteers to run an on campus bookstore for one week per fair.

Donation Chair
This chair will gather items throughout the year for various events and activities (ex. water donation for Jogathon, toys for the Dana Dollar Store, etc.)

HOSPITALITY
Looking for a team of people to coordinate food and refreshments for various events throughout the year including staff appreciation breakfasts and lunches, teacher lounge, PTA meetings, and more.

MEet the masters
An in-class art program with lessons 4 times per year. The lead will coordinate with Meet the Masters and the school for featured artists and timing. We need volunteers to help prepare and deliver art materials for art lessons throughout the year.

Room Parent Liaison***
This person will serve as a main contact between room parents, teachers, and PTA. They will help with organizing and communicating with all parties as needed throughout the year.

Translation Editors
The PTA creates social posts, flyers, and other written materials in English, then uses Google Translate (or something similar) to create the Spanish version. We are in need of Spanish speakers to be available to review and edit these items, many times with not much notice. A team of editors is very welcome.

Communications***
Our biggest challenge is keeping our school community informed. We need a self-starting parent with excellent organizational skills, who loves to write. Extra bonus if you have experience with simple design and/or email marketing. Duties include any or all of:

Writing blurbs for weekly school emails

GIVING SEA
Our second biggest fundraiser each year. This person will coordinate the theme, timing, and logistics with the school and PTA. Ideally there will be volunteers to help create and distribute flyers and materials needed, as well as collect donations returned to school during this 2-3 week fundraiser.

Hispanic Heritage Fiesta
A large and very fun event to kick-off the school year while celebrating various hispanic cultures. We will need many volunteers to help provide food, entertainment, and booths featuring various hispanic countries.

Photographers***
The PTA is looking to have a team of skilled photographers available to capture images of events, holidays, and general school moments for the school yearbook. Occasional photos and video for PTA social media as well. Ideally there would be a team of parents available to share the load over the course of the year.

Room Parents
Ideally each class will have 1-2 room parents each year. They will work with both the teachers and the PTA to assist with in-class needs as well as PTA related events.

uniforms***
The PTA is responsible for ordering supply, keeping inventory, and fulfilling orders for school uniforms and spiritwear. We would like to build a team of parents to help with this, as well as being available (or finding volunteers) for selling on campus occasionally throughout the year and at some school events.

Community Sponsorships
We have a fence that is perfect for some banners. We are looking for a group of volunteers to help formulate a process on how we can sell advertisement banners to Dana Point businesses in order to raise money for our PTA and school! In the beginning you would be researching costs, printer options, creating the purchase form, designing a plan to reach out to businesses, and installing the banners. The following years the committee would have to reenlist the companies that bought banners and reach out to additional businesses. This is a new project and perfect for a group of people with connections to the community!

Glow Dance
A simple and fun 2-hour dance held late winter on campus. We will need volunteers for decorating before the event, selling tickets, glow gear and refreshments, and for face painting.

JOGATHON
Our biggest fundraiser of the year. This event will require advanced planning of logistics and sponsors, and will require the recruitment of many volunteers the day of the event to set up, tally runners and clean up.

restaurant fundraisers
This position requires someone to coordinate days and times with partners at local restaurants for dine-in fundraisers throughout the year. We will also need flyers printed and distributed prior to the events.

Spring Carnival
This is our last big (and most popular) celebration of the year and takes place in the Spring. We will need LOTS of planning and volunteers to help organize and provide food, entertainment and games.

Volunteer Coordinator
Are you a social, people-person? The volunteer coordinator would work with the event planner, event lead, or other PTA members to understand volunteer staffing needs. They would create Sign-up Genius forms, and get the word out about roles needed to be filled for events, as well as coordinate and direct volunteers during events.
