Teacher Spotlight - Rosie Moreno

We are excited to introduce another new 2nd grade teacher to join the R.H. Dana family, Srta. Rosie Moreno. She can probably give you all the tips and tricks about anything Disney, as she is a huge fan. And if you happen to bring her Starbucks and a bagel surprise one morning, you may just make her day. Here’s a little more we learned about Srta. Moreno.

Family/Pets: In my immediate family I am the oldest of two. My younger brother is a student

at Irvine Valley College. My family is of Mexican heritage. My mother was born in Mexico City

and my father who was born in the costal state of Veracruz, Mexico.

What do you love about teaching? I love that teaching is applying creativity and passion to

mold students for the future. Teaching is also an ongoing cycle of collaboration, imagination

and exploration. Overall, the best thing about teaching is making the connections with my

students, getting to know them and their families throughout the year.

What are you afraid of? I am afraid of jump scares in scary movies. It might seem silly, but

scary movies do terrify me!

What are you proud of? I am most proud of being a first-generation student and being

bilingual. I have experienced first hand how many doors open when you have the ability to speak more than one language. You are welcomed into such beautiful communities and opportunities.

What are you looking forward to? I look forward to getting to know all my students and their

families. I also look forward to seeing each student grow and accomplish great things this

year.
